Cowboys manhandle Sooners to continue Bedlam dominance

Bedlam victory never in doubt for Oklahoma State

STILLWATER — Keegan Moore’s first Bedlam appearance was a short one — and it sent Gallagher-Iba Arena into a frenzy. The 184-pound redshirt freshman for Oklahoma State pinned Oklahoma’s Matthew Waddell in 40 seconds and picked up the quickest victory in the Cowboys’ 31-6 rout of the Sooners on Sunday afternoon.

There were plenty of OSU victories as the Cowboys ran the one-sided Bedlam series record to 140-27-10.

It started with No. 7 Nick Piccininni’s 8-2 victory over OU’s Christian Moody, ranked 16th, in the only bout between two nationally-ranked wrestlers.

Kaid Brock (133), Dean Heil (141) and Boo Lewallen (149) followed with a trio of major decision wins.

Justin Thomas (157) and Yoanse Mejias (174) nabbed the only OU victories on the day.

And Moore defused any OU momentum after Mejias’ win with his quick work of Waddell.

To close things out, OSU’s Derek White attacked OU’s Connor Webb early and often and finished the day with a 21-6 technical fall.

The Cowboys improved to 12-2 overall and 7-0 in the Big 12 Conference. They’ll close out league dual action next week at Fresno State.

The Sooners are now 8-9 and finish the regular season at Lehigh on Friday.
