The Skiatook freshman took the Larry Wilkey Invitational by storm this past weekend. Taylor, seeded 12th at 120 pounds, picked up victories over wrestlers seeded fifth, fourth, first and second en route to the individual crown in Jenks. In the quarterfinals, Taylor beat No. 4 seed Orelious Steele of Bixby, 3-0, and he followed with a 3-1 victory over the top seed, Tahlequah’s Jakob Lyons. To cap off his unbeaten run in the tournament, Taylor recorded a 2-1 win over Bartlesville’s Laif Jones in the championship bout. Taylor’s first-place finish also sparked Skiatook to the team title with 185.5 points. Yukon was second at 160.
